Bill & Mike. Then & Now.
Bill Herebic is a proud fourth-generation builder. From the time he turned 14, Bill worked onsite with his dad at Copper Valley Builders in Colorado Springs every summer, every break, every minute he could–he loved everything about it.
The same is true of Bill Herebic today.
With 35 years of custom home building, innovative design, and a degree from UCLA under his tool belt, Bill possesses profound experience, acute skill, and a hard-wired aptitude and love of the craft.
To hear him talk, the excitement of a 17 year-old foreman running crews twice his age, shines through. He still recalls them hollering, “Junior, we love working for you. You get the job done.”
Bill inspects and communicates every aspect of this often once-in-a-lifetime process to his client. “I have no secrets. I play no games. Nobody ever needs to guess what I’m doing.”
“Because this is what I was born to do, I feel like I’m uniquely qualified to deliver somebody’s dream home.”
Bill Herebic
Herebic Homes hands every client a project manual with every detail so they can follow along on this exciting journey. Every single bid and invoice is copied for Bill’s book and their book. Every item. Every bid. Every penny. Accounted for in black and white.
“I will never spend somebody else’s money for them. I design and build each home with great care.”
“People’s comfort in knowing where every dollar goes and when they can relax in front of their new fireplace is important to them, so it’s supremely important to me.”
Bill’s favorite part of homebuilding? The design. “Because this is what I was born to do, I feel like I’m uniquely qualified to deliver somebody’s dream home. I never rush the process. If they have a tight time requirement, we can do that, but if they want to dream and sleep on it, and dream some more, they deserve that luxury. This is special work. Like bringing a sculpture out of a block of granite.”
Once Bill considers his “favorite” part, many more “favorite parts” surface: The framing—seeing the dream come to life. Helping clients. Setting the trusses. Sheeting the roof. His collection of homebuilding antiques passed down from father to son, father to son. Employing the best craftsmen in the industry…
Bill Herebic loves to build homes. You’ll see.
In construction the final product speaks for itself. But what do the steps before that say? The questions. Ideas. Timelines. Options and alternatives. Savings. Invoice details. Transparency. Those speak volumes too.
Mike Schreier speaks volumes…softly and with his actions. Mike gets it done. He knows both the large and the little are important. He’s a guy you can trust to listen, explain, and make sure you understand and are pleased along the way. His calm leadership steadies each step of the project. Working with both clients and crews.
His quiet nature means when he speaks, people know it is important.
Born in Wisconsin, Mike spent his childhood playing on Grandma and Grandpa’s farm. He and his uncle, who was like an older brother, constructed a lot of outdoor fun for many years. When Mike was older his family moved to Colorado for his dad to work construction. Mike’s dad was a framer and home builder. Mike worked with him in the summers cleaning up job sites, hanging drywall, and doing anything needed on the job site.
Mike says his new truck was a main reason he got serious about working construction at 16 years old. The shiny truck was awesome, but it wasn’t going to pay for itself!
Working alongside his dad in the summers and then joining his dad’s crew after his dad’s passing, Mike had found his home. And he says, he can’t imagine doing anything else.
“Building someone’s dream house is what I love about going to work each day.”

Mike started framing and learned everything he could from those around him. He also worked in landscaping for a while and commercial construction for seven years. He built restaurants and other largescale jobs, but decided it wasn’t for him. He wanted a direct relationship with the customer.
He stepped back into residential construction by framing basements, building decks, and ultimately building houses.
Bill met Mike not quite ten years ago. Bill was looking for a new framer and asked a builder friend who said Mike was “the best in town”. So, Bill went over to the job site to meet Mike in person and to discuss Herebic Homes’ next project. They found they approached building, business, family, and life similarly and their relationship took off from there.
Bill says, “He is the most honest person I know. I wouldn’t be doing this with Mike or anyone else if they weren’t that honest.”
“I am partnering with Mike now because never before in my career have I had so many opportunities. And we just want to make sure we are on our jobs every day doing right by our customers, giving them the care they deserve…that the construction of their home deserves. And joining forces is going to let Herebic Schreier Homes continue to do that.”
“We bring a really good team of subcontractors with us. And I can translate what the homeowner wants to the subcontractor to get their dream house,” says Mike.

As Mike squirms just a bit, Bill tells him, “You really are very good with all types of customers. You do it in such a way where the customer feels heard and reassured. The sub-contractor knows what they need to do and you’ve empowered them to go do it. Just by being you, you make the job happen.”
Bill continues, “I’ve been building homes for thirty-five-plus years now and I’ve met a lot of builders and seen a lot of things in this industry. It wasn’t really a matter of timing…it was that I found the right person. The time is now because I found the right person. And I can trust Mike to do what needs to be done. I trust him for who he is. He really is the right person to join with to serve others with our new, experienced company Herebic Schreier Homes.”
Mike has been married to Trish for 18 years. They have a son and a daughter and three dogs. “It’s mad chaos at our house. But we love it. Our son is really into hockey right now so the three of us spend a lot of time beside cold ice rinks cheering him on.”
Bill and Mike are a great team. They agree that honesty and integrity are the firm foundation of their business. And their strengths compliment and supplement each other like they’ve been doing this forever.
Mike says, “The stuff that Bill designs that I get to build is stuff everybody wants…homeowners are showing it off and it makes you feel good.”
Well, Mike & Bill, Herebic Schreier Homes feels good.
